Avalon House

Avalon Beach, NSW

2015

Commissioned to restore and add to a heritage listed 1920 Californian Bungalow in the beach side suburb of Avalon. Built as a weekender and estate office for the original suburbs developer it is one of the very first houses in the area built out of local sandstone with timber shingles and panelled walling inside and outside. The large rear yard surrounded by a tall spotted gum forest allowed for a north facing contemporary pavilion addition housing a kitchen, living dining and loft bedroom. The new double height living spaces and the old cottage seamlessly join via a glazed link.
